So last week, we were emailed our vows to check over them and make sure everything is worded how we want it. Today, we went to get the marriage license. With all of this happening, it put it all in perspective! I am not planning some huge party that when i wake up the next day, my life will be the same. This is MY WEDDING! My life will change (for the good) forever! I am so pumped! SO with all this happening, I decided to sit back and reflect on this time and how God has blessed us, and also what he is commanding of us for the rest of our lives!- to respect Andy, to be his ally, to submit to him, and to build our home...... not destroy it! I am looking forward to the task, and I am looking forward to loving Andy as my husband for the rest of my life!
By the time we say "I do", Andy and I will have been engaged for 11 months. For 11 months I have been planning my wedding... reception, invitations, so on and so on. It has been such a blast doing all of the planning. I have not been stressed out at all, and the Lord has layed blessing upon blessing on us. Not only have there been financial blessings and situational blessing with Andy and I being able to have a house, but most importantly the blessing of friendship has been surrounding me during this time.
For starters, my mom and I have spent so much time together working on the wedding and she has attended EVERY shower.... and yes, I have had 8 of them! It has been such a sweet time with her! My sister has been a super trooper helping with all the behind the scenes work! All the beautiful handwriting on most of the invitations and all the placecards..... yep its all hers! She has been such an encouragement and help even with a 1 year old! And of course Andy's mom. We have talked more in the past 11 months about fun wedding dresses, decoration, and who belongs to whom in the family! =) I have loved every minute of talking with her during this time and feel so much closer to his family!
As for my church family, my pastor's wife, Beth Pinckney, has been a huge blessing! She has sat with me many saturdays and spoken truth through God's word about being a Godly wife! She has heard my fears and my joys of the journey and has prayed over me many times that God would by His grace protect us and take away those fears! I have learned so much from her and God has given me a new thought process on some things that come along with marriage! =) My wedding director, Nicole Kelly has been another blessing in this journey! The time together to plan also become times of laughter and truth! There have been many little comments in between the details that have spoken truth to me about how to prepare for our life together! One of the biggest things that sticks out to me is how she is alway thinking about Jonothan first. She never commits to anything with me before checking with Jonothan. That has shown me how she respects him first! And last, but not least is Kelly Keller! She is doing our flowers for us! We have shopped together, laughed histarically in Michael's and spent lots of time figuring out what to do with grapes and artichokes..... or is it avocados?? And in those times, God has used her wisdom to speak truth about being a wife! I feel as if the Lord has placed such wise women around me to prepare me for the journey of being a submissive wife.
Another church friend that has been a huge blessing is Sharon Leader.... our real estate agent who has done so much for us to get house plans ready! She has been our voice and brain sometimes! We feel so blessed to have her on our side.... especially when she needs to get "passionate" with someone when things arent going right! =) What a gift from God! I feel so blessed! When Andy and I think about everything that is going on in our lives, we cant help but to PRAISE THE LORD for all HE has blessed us with!

Laura,
Thanks for your kind words. As we told you today, you and Andy have blessed Coty and me tremendously by giving us the privilege of sharing in this process. And you have blessed all of DGCC as well, as you have shown us such a sweet example of excitement in growing together, purity in the process, and eagerness to do things God's way. You have both glorified God in your engagement and I am sure you will continue to do so as a married couple. We can't wait for July 7th!!!!!
Lots of love,
Beth
Oh sweet friend! What a privelege it has been to be a part of this process. I have seen you and Andy grow so much in the last 11 months and look forward to seeing you grow even more as a married couple. May God richly bless your marriage and draw you closer to Himself as He grows you closer to one another! We love you guys so much!
